It’s this bracing needed, or just left over from building the roof?

We have these two scrap pieces of 2x4 that run diagonally across the roof supports. They are only in this part of the attic. The ends are touching the exterior wall, so i thought that maybe they are for bracing that? I’d like to remove them if possible because where they are makes it hard to bring stuff in and out of the attic. If they are needed, do I have any alternatives?
