Little Tragedies

"I dilly and I dally"

Said silly Sally

As she skipped

Across the gorge.

"Let's find mommy"

Said little Tommy

As he froze

In the summer night.

•

"Not yet, not yet

She'll be upset.

We'll wait until

She sleeps"

•

"But the sun falls,

And mom calls.

We can deal with

Her belting"

•

So they skipped,

Then Sally slipped

And fell into

The gorge,

•

A jagged rock

Caught her block

And Sally hung

Over the water.

•

Tommy cried,

No one replied,

So he ran

Through the dark.

•

No one returned that night,

So search parties searched at light,

They followed the

Cheerful tracks down the gorge.

•

They found Tommy first,

Intestines dispersed,

As he fell on a sharp rock

And kept running.

•

Then Sally down stream

With no head to scream.

That was found

Stuck on a rock.

•

One week later

In the gorge crater

They found mom

Stricken with guilt.
