Any thoughts on isolating from others to better improve myself?
So I am dealing with internal issues and external issues that I am working to improve. Others aren't directly stopping me from improving those things. Except that my internal issues are triggered by almost anyone I'm close to at the moment. When I'm triggered I feel temporarily depressed and set back from taking the other steps I need to.
A few internal parts I'm trying to figure out are who I am, things I like, and my boundaries. Doing so while keeping up with relationships is hard because it gives me stress, and sometimes my friends. It feels like the difference between improv vs having a script while not having any experience doing improv. Seems like it could be positive to isolate and write that script on my own without the triggers from others.
Although in practice I'm not sure I could actually isolate, I know I'd have trouble. I've tried to do it before but failed. It comes with it's own negatives and the last time I missed my friends too much to continue.
So I've had this idea multiple times and I'm still not sure if it's a positive or negative thing to do. It could be negative not just because of loneliness but because it's a form of conflict avoidance. I know sometimes there are positives to avoiding conflict, like when it can't be solved and it's better to walk away. I'm not sure this would be a time to walk away.
Mostly because this involves avoiding other people who are not the reason I feel this way. They may indirectly trigger how I feel but it's not purposeful. Instead it's my own low self esteem and thinking peoples actions mean they don't like me. In reality they are just being who they are and while their actions may not always be the best it doesn't mean it's worst than it is at face value.
Really this is just some musing I've been having about my self improvement. Would be curious to hear others thoughts.
To isolate because people trigger my mental issues and it sets my other improvements back. Or continue on through the triggers and do my best to keep on. I do know over time the more I keep going through the emotions it should get easier. Except that's hard to remember in moments of stress and depression.
