PoE2: turn-based caster builds

Character/party build help

Hi,

From what i could find, the general consensus seems to be that melee classes fit more easily within turn-based (TB) mode than casters because of the cast time issue. I wish i could reliably try real-time (RT) mode, but it's a bit much for me and my life.

I would really like to try something like a Wizard/Chanter or some other spell support/buff MC build, but i would also like to make this attempt without unlocking all of the Berath's Favor boons.

My questions are: 1) Have any of you had a successful caster support build in TB mode? Did it require a lot of setup (50k + Rare Vendor boon)?

  1. If there is any advice this community has in general about using casters in TB mode?

I went on veteran with a SC Evoker and whole it lacked a bit of support I was annihilating allot of stuff with DBL casts.

Thank you. I'd figured single-class would be more effective, but you didn't find it too difficult to cast higher level/longer cast time spells?

At the risk of sounding dumb, what are DBL casts?

As far as I remember you pretty much cast any spell in one turn, no matter what. Its been a while so that might he incorrect. Also Double casts are what the Evoker gets as a benefit you a 5% chance of double casting any evocation spell.

I see. I'll look more into a single class build.

Thank you for answering.

I've played Casters in Turn based with a lot of succes,

I have close to 1K hours in turn based mode. (Edit: just did the math, more like close to 700h)

Just dont go 0 DEX and you should be fine, I suually go with 13 DEX on my casters.

Also find a way to give them concentration or prevent interrupts, Pain block, hands of light, etc.

I'd seen that Dex works differently, but with 4 preferred attributes to focus on, i want sure how much to allocate. Especially if the strat is ultimately to go last I'm the turn order.

Thank you for answering.

Playing always last has its pros and cons

Sure you get to position every attack and character correctly + the attack order to make sure you buff - debuf and attack in the correct order.

But always playing last means you dont get to negate the enemy turn, and maybe the enemy hits a CC on a key member, so you dont get to use the combo.

Also it means that your caster will carry their cast on to the next turn and maybe they even get interrupted.

thats why I always put some DEX on my casters, if I want to wait till the end of the turn to combo then I just use "Delay turn" but if I dont need to wait and could start casting right away I have the option to.

Couple of builds ive liked, for stats high = 17+, medium = 14+, low = 11+, dump = lowest

Magram priest + wizard(evoker or bm). High MIG and PER, medium INT, low DEX and CON, dump RES

Woedica Priest + wizard(no evoker) High PER and INT, low everything else.

Paladin + Ancient druid + spine of thicket green on +3 beast and plants. High INT, medium PER and RES, Low DEX MIG and CON

Wizard + Ranger + create double spell + arquebuss. High MIG and INT, medium PER, low DEX and CON, dump RES.

Honestly, your suggestions have given me other ideas for this caster run.

Thank you for the build and attribute suggestions, too.
