We worked it so that the newborn went down first and while I was giving the newborn a bottle, the toddler just played for a few minutes in the living room. Once newborn was down, I had all the time in the world to put toddler down. But I know that's a very child-dependent answer.

Yeah, baby goes in a carrier or gets swaddled and left on the floor. I don’t think I’ve actually done a bedtime with both though so ymmv.

How old is the toddler.  Massively different advice for a 18 month old vs a 3 YO.

So this is actually looking for advice for my wife. We have an almost three year old and an 8 week old. The 3 year old is pretty good at going down to bed but does require the usual reading a book / telling a story / cuddle for a bit.

My work takes me out once or twice per week in the evening and I'm wondering if any of you dads or your other halves have had to put a toddler down whilst also watching a baby? How the heck does one do it?!
