New player. Progression path?

So, I'm late to the party and am a bit confused.

I'm lvl 60, I haven't completed the story yet, I've run a dozen or so of Monolith maps, but I'm unsure where to go.

Should I complete the story first?

Should I grind some monolith stuff?

Are there tiers I can unlock for other content?

Is this all in the in-game guide and I've missed it?

The story is incomplete at the moment and goes up to chapter 9. If you wanna do it in chronological order, you'd want to do the story first and then monoliths. You unlock all the idol slots and passive points in the story, but there are more quests rewarding idol slots and passive points than you can get at most, so you can basically choose which side quests to do for them and you can leave some out without missing out.

After the story monliths are the main endgame, but there are also arena and 3 dungeons you need keys for. To find their locations you can just read the key descriptions.

Thanks a lot. I'll go back to the story then :)

story wise you dont need to complete it, but you do get passive points and idol slots from it, so make sure you have all of them (i personally like completing it anyway just cos, you also get some xp from the quests and it feels better for me)

monoliths are the "endgame" system, you can effectivly see them as a second campaign with less of a narrative focus and ore progression focus, push through them, once you have completed all 3 lvl 90 monoliths you can upgrade all of them to lvl 100

you should also be getting keys to several different endgame dungeons as loot drops, these are also things you can do as endgame content

Well you don't need to complete it, but you do get +1 to all stats by completing it which is a pretty big buff.

That's true I forgot about that

For some builds that really isn't that big a deal actually, but for others it can be really nice

Compared to T20+ gear, sure it's huge, but it's a pretty massive buff right at the start of echoes.

Eh, for a build which isn't depending on stacking attributes it's not really, for a lot of builds it amounts to 4% increased damage and 10 health

Which is nice but not huge

make sure you completed all the quests for skill points and idols.

yes, you grind monoliths. Start caring about your gear:tune your loot filter and aim at having each of your item slot be a base you want + t-19 or t20 with only affixes you want. also each empowered ( level 100) monolith gives an empowered blessing and you can rerun them to get the right one.

Thank you.

By "base" you mean "this kind of item" right? Does the quality of the item matter or simply the right type?

I'm following a guide for a beginner friendly spellblade, and have implemented the loot filter they've provided.

the base is the part of item without the 4 mods.
