Stress or trauma ?
I noticed that Berceli and TRE practionners tend to speak alternatively, and interchangeably, of stress and trauma when talking about what TRE is tackling on.
Back in the days when I started TRE I did a few sessions with a TRE facilitator. After a few sessions, she told me "you need to keep doing it to remove the residual stress in your nervous system, and also to process the new stress that you encounter in your daily life".
So she has a kind of "stress theoretical framework", where TRE helps to manage daily stress and unload past stress. But in my experience, the tremors follows a path and evolution that is not affected by the daily stress we encounter. Since I started TRE, 16 months ago, I had very stressful days and even periods, but it didn't impact the evolution of my tremors. At each session tremors had a continuity with the session before, they sort of restarted where they left off, unaffacted by whatever amount of daily stress I had in between.
So are we sure that TRE has anything to do with stress, and deal not exclusively with trauma? What is stress anyway from a physiological standpoint? Is it something that we can "accumulate"?
I find that that TRE lack a clear theoretical framework, and even Berceli is sloppy in the way he defines and explains things.
