Legend of Legaia

Anyone here familiar with the game Legend of Legaia? I am attempting to build characters that are inspired by Vahn, Noa, and Gala. Since they all wear armor, I don't think Monk is my best solution, even thoigh they are all martial artists. What combinations of class and archetype do you think best suit each character?
