Feeding help

I rescued a beta a few months ago (6.7 gal tank, heater, filter, etc) but he’s not looking much better then he did when I got him and I think it’s his food. When I got him he was being fed only fluval bug bites so I tried to switch him to pellets bc I’ve seen people say they offer more nutrients but I don’t think he’s eating them. What should I do?
