No discharge at all?

Advice Needed

I've been struggling with not having periods for years now and not having discharge either. I'll generally skip a few years of natural cycles and then have one super short one or a really heavy one and during that time I also don't have discharge. What's curious is that I have gotten pregnant twice, so I do still ovulate (which I thought generally comes with discharge).

Doctors have told me that the only way to fix it is birth control and I've come to terms with that even if I don't like blindly fixing something when you don't even know the cause, but how do I deal with the constant discomfort of being dry all the time? It gets painful to wipe sometimes because of it and underwear is just painful in general at times. Can I use something to moisturize without risking infection? Or do I just have to live with it?
