"Alien planets" in Kyuranger
I used to complain that Kyuranger had a space opera set up, yet ended up taking place predominantly on Earth, thus defeating the purpose of it's set up. Looking back, the Kyurangers did go to other planets more often. However in my defense, I should be forgiven for thinking that it took place mostly on Earth because every planet looks the fucking same! Toei does NOTHING to create the illusion that they're alien planets. There are no built sets, no matte paintings, no scale models, no different color filters, nothing. They just throw the actors into some place in Japan and go "Look! Alien planet!". And what's their excuse? Kamen Rider Gaim gave us the Helheim Forest just a few years prior. Hell, a decade prior, Timeranger had no problem depicting the year 3000 with built sets, scale models and different alien races walking around. And to go even further back, the Changeman finale added a color filter for it's setting 31 years prior. So why can't a series from 2017 do either one of those?
