Maths HL IA help

I'm planning to do pursuit curves as my IA, however I don't know where to start and we haven't even learnt integral yet so even though I've researched on the matter, I still only have a vague idea about it. Could someone points some directions for me to start or gives some advice about which piece of maths to learn?
