What did you think of "The Menu"?
Very interesting movie.
I'm kind of torn because there's many cool shots, character moments, and I think they deliver on the themes very well. I knew they put a lot of work into this idea. I was able to tell who these characters were from their first line of dialogue! That's impressive IMO
The real issue begins with the plot, which requires that 2 dozen people are all fully on board with killing people and dying. The idea of a cult of personality behind this charismatic cook isn't that ridiculous if you know a lot about cults in real life. But maybe more of a sub plot involving doubts or the backstory would be nice to help flesh out what we see happen later.
I have a feeling people are either impressed with the whole thing or find it too hard to believe and fail to get invested. I did get invested, and the moment with the cheeseburger felt really genuine and impactful to me.
What did you think?
Overall, I recommend if only to just be entertained and to analyze this story for what it is.
