Going Down the Budget Speaker Rabbit Hole

Purchasing USA

I am starting to go in circles trying to decide on a $200ish replacement to my current turntable setup.

Currently I have a Stanton DJ turntable (which has both phono out, and a built in preamp for line out) going into a old Numark 2 channel mixer, which I also use for other miscellaneous RCA inputs. The mixer output is to some KRK 5 Rocket monitors. Unfortunately one of them has developed a hum which has me wanting to come up with a newer more stream lined solution.

I am open to both passive and active speakers as long as the total comes out to no more then $200ish. Passive is currently winning my internal struggle because I would also like to incorporate a headphone out somewhere along the way.

This will be on a table unfortunately in the corner of the room, meaning speakers are about at head height when sitting and inches away from the wall.

My music used is mostly jazz/blues so I prefer flat neutral speakers opposed to exciting bass speakers.

Edifier is always at the top of these lists but something doesn’t feel right about the reviews I read. To good to be true? Maybe just not for the flat/neutral minded? I would have to incorporate some sort of headphone amp if I go down the active route but I am open to it.
