Soft parking brake

Hey folks, I did my rear drums the other day (for the first time) on my 2012 Sierra 1500. Everything went fairly smoothly, but my parking brake is soft when I set it. Can anyone give me a few ideas on what to check/process of elimination? I don't mind pulling everything apart again. It still engages, and my truck doesn't roll, but it's much softer than before.
