noob question: Why did Kanhaiya Kumar leave CPI?

Apologies if this is a dumb question, I couldn't find anything definitive online.

I had heard of him in the news before in college, but I wasn't super familiar nor interested in politics back then.

Now, I've been reading through our countries past with leftist movements as well as the current state of socialist politicians in India.

Did he leave because he did not believe in the ideology anymore? Is the CPI not upholding leftist principles or maybe too anti-revisionist/strict about them?

Asking as someone who personally believes in working towards democratic socialism in the short term with the eventual goal of a communist state.
