Telling Family about HLA B27?

I just found out I'm positive for HLA B27. Debating mentioning it to my 77 year old father who is relatively healthy but has a bad neck and 2 surgeries to repair a leaky valve.

I find out yesterday so I'm still processing the diagnosis, mentally. I was sent to a rheumatologist for IBS (I'm also a colon cancer survivor) but now they found this too. I'm a mess, apparently.

I try to shield my parents from this stuff where I can. They're old people. But kinda seems like my dad may be undiagnosed and not know it.

I could casually just ask him if he's ever been tested for HLA-B27? Thoughts? I really don't want to worry him.

PS - I'm awaiting x-rays but my CT scan showed some possible fusion in my spine. Explains some ongoing pain there and in my neck. Fingers crossed. I really wanted to know what was causing all my abdominal pain and thought I'd feel better once they figured it out. Yeah, not so much. The curse "May you get what you wish for" really is a thing. 😞
