No copy of lease - can my apartment charge me to move out?

After the complex I live in was bought out, the current leasing company lost my lease. This has been confirmed - there are no copies (I don’t even have a copy as I lost it when the portal switched over before I was aware we’d been bought out) and the only lease they have is the one I signed for 2021-2022 with the previous management company. I spoke with the office manager who has been very kind through all of this and she said the regional manager still may require a 30-day notice/fee. Are they able to do this if there is no lease to give a 30-day notice on?

Edit: apartment is located in Nashville, TN! Davidson County.
