My tips for new hires

Discussion

There has been another great surge of new miners and this is great. I've also noticed a surge in questions and asking for help, so i wanted to spread some of my common tips.

  • Watch chat. This game is immersive and you can find yourself deeply focused. I've gone entire deep dives with only sending a single message. But if you are playing in public, make an effort to watch for messages.

If someone types R, they are "ready" or asking for permission to carry on with the mission. Some hosts will not move forward without full party consent.

Sometimes, side objectives aren't worth the time, hosts often ask if the group wants to skip them and finish the mission early.

A lot of "Why was I kicked?" questions can be solved beforehand if everyone (that includes hosts) uses some basic chat etiquette.

  • Fun laser pointer facts Aside from just bossing around the scout with markers and pointing out slimy maggots, the LP is a handy tool.

It not only brings up a window for how much nitra and other things you've shoved into molly. You can see how much ammo each Dwarf is carrying. Under each name it shows 4 blocks, lit up or dimmed, so you can guage if the team needs more ammo.

While pointing, you can press E to set a waypoint you can see on the terrain scanner (map). This helps to find your way back to machine events, or cargo crates that still need batteries. Only you can see the way point, but it's better than nothing.

  • My least favorite Dreadnought(s) The twins, Arbalest and Lacerator, I find can be a huge ammo sink if your team is going in guns blazing. This of course is due to their shared healing.

Whittle them down and keep their health bars as close to the same size as you can. Too many times do some over-eager dwarves get tunnel vision on the Lacerator, causing them to heal over 4 times a battle. Share the bullets between both twins to keep them bleeding.

That's all I have for now. Shout out your favorite tip. See you all in the mines.

Rock and Stone!
