This is a vent
This may be an AITA post as well.
So I've been paying my best friends rent for 6 months. You folks don't need to know the cost but it hurts.
I'm getting frustrated as she won't talk to me now.
Forget most of your preconceptions as I went into this open eyed and I trust/love her unconditionally.
The problem is the lack of communication on moving forward and it came to a point.
I can put her up indefinitely in a huge room with a lockable door but she won't move. This is complicated and involves personal stuff I won't tell.
I can work with a $300 a week rent but $500 plus living is hurting and I'm terrified I cannot keep her safe much longer.
Told her goodbye in a fit of frustration and now I'm scared for her safety and that she thinks I'll cut her off.
Did send apologies for acting childish but she's not read any of them.
As I said it's a very complex situation and I don't want to go into more details. Trust me on this.
So am I the arsehole for supporting someone in need and then getting frustrated?
When you owe someone your life and then suddenly have theirs in your hand?
When it gets to a point where I have continued nightmares and anxiety, can I let someone this important go?
Most of my friends have said yes. To cut the ties and let her sink or swim, but they've never been in this situation. I have and will hold onto someone who's drowning no matter what the cost.
Sorry, bit of a stream of consciousness. Therapists are very neutral on this topic and I'd like a bit more outside feedback
