I’m in love with my best friend, but I don’t know what to do about it.

I (F16) have realized I’m in love with my best friend. (F16 as well) I realized I was completely head-over-heels in love when we were asked if we were dating. I’ve tried to give off subtle ‘hints‘ but they usually play off as jokes. I don’t know if I should tell her because any situation might turn out bad.

If I play it off and actually get to date her, relationships with people my age don’t last long.

And if it doesn’t play off, things might get awkward.

Ruining things with her might be the absolute worst thing to happen. She’s been my best friend for over 9 years at this point. Please help me make any sort of decision.
