Appointments.
I am no longer together with the father of my unborn daughter. I understand this changes his “responsibilities” in the pregnancy pretty significantly and we have not spoken since I was 21 weeks pregnant, I am now 33w5d. I just want to know if there is a “standard” on how many appointments he should attend or if he should not attend any. Am I right for feeling a little sad that he hasn’t made an attempt to come to a single one of her appointments and during our last conversation made it very clear he will not be coming to any appointments but that once she’s born he will be there but will not be there through the pregnancy and that he does not have to be. The invitation is open to him, I would never want to prevent him from trying to be a good dad, and I always schedule the appointments in the afternoon because in my first trimester he made it very clear that would be the only way he could make it. Can I even be upset about a lack of support, I don’t even know what kind I could ask for? I don’t really understand where the standard for what he “should” do is. I just don’t want to cross boundaries that I shouldn’t or start a cycle of fighting. I just let him do him because as long as he’s good to our daughter and is good to me in front of her and doesn’t talk poorly about me to her, I don’t really know what else I can ask of him. I really just want to do the absolute best by everyone in the situation despite not getting that same consideration from him but I don’t want him to be misled into thinking he can treat me however he wants to.
