Do modded/ "Lite" versions of Windows actually help with performance?

In case anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about, I'm referring to those versions that have everything cut everything that's unnecessary out of Windows and only keeps system tools. Does it actually help with system performance or is it just better to stick with normal Windows 10?
