Advanced techniques for keeping a cat off of counters?
I've had my 9 year old cat for 3 years now and have lived in a few places. Early on it was difficult to keep her off the kitchen counter because of a window above the sink and her desire to watch cat TV. After a few months she at least understood pretty well that she wasn't allowed up there and stayed off for the most part. About two months ago i moved in with my girlfriend and the big issue is that she keeps indoor plants. I've been able to reteach her that these counters are like my old counters, she isn't allowed but we will wake up to chew marks on the plants and cat fur over our stove.
I've already tried tin foil, she'll just hop on top of it no problem. She has also started getting bolder, hoping up on the counters when we are awake and in the room.
What's the best way to curb this behavior? Are indoor cats and indoor plants just incompatible?
