Reading for weight loss?
This might sound crazy, but has anyone else experienced unexpected weight loss when getting into a really good series of books? I recently got back into reading after several years, and I’m reminded of the obsession I had with books when I was a kid. Usually, when I watch TV, I have a snack with me and can eat, bored and hands free to consume whatever. But with a book? I’ve got to use both hands to hold and turn the pages, especially when I’m really pouring through a good one. And, because I’m so invested in the story, I don’t feel like getting up to grab a snack, or stopping in the middle to make one. And if I really am hungry, I have to put the book down to eat my meal. And, rather than start a new show or watch YouTube, I’m eager to get back to my book with my thoughts uninterrupted, so I sit undistracted to eat my meal. Maybe it’s just about replacing boredom/distracted eating with a hobby? But for me that seems to be achieved with a series of good books. Definitely not a side-effect I expected of absorbed reading 😂
