I (29m) could use some advice

Career

So a little background:

I got my bachelors of science in Psychology in 2021 and last summer I started work as a guardianship case manager for a local nonprofit. I had no idea what guardianship was and I took the position to leave my previous employer. In the 6 months I’ve been there I’ve learned a lot and have enjoyed getting to know my clients (wards).

However after a few challenging clients and situations where on my days “off” I couldn’t enjoy them because of my more difficult client eloping, and another provider calling me while I was having drinks regarding a rude family member to a client she is watching over. I’ve come to the conclusion I need a job where once I’m out of work, I’m done until the next time I go in.

I’ve become increasingly more anxious, can’t enjoy my days off because of the constant worry something will happen and I am starting to resent some of my clients.

I want to quit, however I’m scared. Scared I won’t find another job or that I’ll take something just for money and end up back here in a few months. I have rent saved up for 3 months but I feel it won’t be enough time, however the thought of staying here more than a month fills me with dread.

I’m scared about how 6 months in my current position and 11 months as a stocker at Walmart will look. (Besides this I’ve only ever worked at a gas station and was a process server for 10 years.)

I feel stuck, scared and anxious. I hope someone can offer me some advice. Thank you.

tldr: I’m burning out at my current job but am scared to leave as I don’t have much experience and a psychology degree which I feel won’t help much.
