Anybody leveraging AI/ML to assist discovery? Are your tools homerolled or something productized?

I read an article recently about how AI isn't necessarily here to replace jobs like product/engineers/design. Because, at the end of the day, AI can't yet make an informed decision. So the most powerful application for it currently is as an assistant or a companion. In particular it talked about using AI to do data analysis and relying a human being to interpret the results. If anyone knows what article I'm talking about, I'd love to see it again.

Are any of you doing this? I have an engineering background but no experience in ML/AI. No one at my org has expertise in this area, either. And good luck convincing leadership to hire one right now lol. So I'm curious if anyone is in a similar situation but is actively using ML for learnings. Is your solution home-rolled, or is there some product out there that helps?
