Help with what to learn for a thesis project

Hello there,

So for a thesis project for the company that I am working for, I was asked to build a solution that matches the employees skills for different projects based on their skills and how good they are (a percentage in each skill)

So, this automated solution reads a job posting for example, and matches it with the suitable candidates.

my question is: I would like to know what topics I need to research, an online course that you think might be helpful, maybe even another approach other than machine learning?

I have experience with programming, mainly front end projects. I am a computer engineering student so my maths skills are okay, kinda. my experience with statistics is only the university course that I had to do.

I am very pressed on the time that I have to put into this project for personal reasons that's why I posted this question, what I would usually do is, take an introduction course maybe on coursera like the one by Andrew Ng, go through the whole specialization and spend maybe 6 to 8 months to finish this. But because of personal problems, I have to learn, work, and complete the thesis project in 4 to 5 months.

tldr; thesis student pressed on time. Needs material to learn to build a solution to match job postings with candidates based on their skills.
