Is Middletown,CT a good place for family?

My husband got laid off unexpectedly towards end of year and recently got a job offer in Middletown. We are thinking of moving there, we visit occasionally for date night or to see friends, also family used to live there. We are what they call “lower middle class “ I think and are no where near our dream of buying our first home. We are looking into renting a 2 beds/3beds townhouse in a decent neighborhood. We have 2 boys(7 yr old 2nd grade and a 1 year old)….are the schools good?is it a good place to raise family? We love the vibe and diversity…we are very passionate about diversity as we are a multicultural family ourselves. I should mention that we currently reside in Bristol. Thank you
