will being a creative person help with my depression?
Hi there peeps of self-improvement. 25yrs old F. I'm going through depression, a lot of self-esteem issues and just feelings of not being good enough, of not being important, and feeling like I'm going through cognitive deterioration, becoming stupid, and a whole lot of disinterest in everything. I'm trying to analyze why I feel this way, I am going to therapy but it's been more than a month (I go weekly) since we've gone throught the same topics and I just feel ashamed to not have improved and to still be on the same issues. My therapist has talked to me about being stagnant and always talking about the same issues and I feel a bit anxious because I don't want to see her exasperated look of "really? We're going to talk about this again?". I use to be involved in the arts (drawing, painting, ceramics) in high school and I always liked it because it open new perspective and intereset and I would investigate throughtly whenever I wanted to make a piece of something that spoke to me but that I didn't understand fully. Rn I about to return to school, I studied 3 years of film and digital animation until I kinda had a breakdown and decide to quit and never go back, but now I see my friends that have a successful career and I want that, I want a degree and I do want to work in that field because I liked it a lot in particular montage, story writing, 3D modeling , rigging and just being on set working with people is really fun. The aspect of collaboration in digital works is really heartwarming, everyone working towards a common goal. I'm trying to stimulate my mind to gain some interest in anything really. I wanted to feel motivated and have interest like before, so I want to know if any of you guys have any tips to foment creativity.
On another note related to the top: Also, most days I feel a void in me, I feel very indifferent to anything around me, I started taking some herbal medication called simplex that is suppose to help with stress and anxiety but I don't feel like it's helping much. I don't know if I need pharmaceutical medication but i feel like I'm headed towards that, my therapist is really shakes her head when she has mentioned the possiblity of it, I know I shouldn't feel weak if I need it but that is sort of the thought I think my therapist has of me... I know I shouldn't be stuck on what she thinks of me or anyone for that matter but her disapproval in the mention of medication for me... Makes me feel weak, like I'm giving up. Depression has made me feel like I'm vicitmising my self and that just adds to the whole weakness feeling. I don't know why I mentioning this last part but thanks for reading, I appreciate it.
