Hotel prices hugely expensive this year?

We're coming in September for a few nights and can't seem to get a room for less than about $300/night - in previous years we've been getting places like Hyatt and DoubleTrees for around $125-150/night.

Anyone know why there's such a huge increase this September compared to previous years?
