Rewatching Total Drama in 2023 episode 2- Not So Happy Campers part 2
Like last time, I watched the episode last night. I will always put the review either on the same day or the day after I watch the episode, so my opinions are still fresh. Anyways, onto the actual review.
Episode review-
Continuing off what I mentioned in the last review, I don't understand Courtney's sudden personality shift in such a short amount of time. Still unsure whether to call it circumstances or derailment, as it could be either. I thought the challenge was a really fun way to start the series, even if it isn't legal. Honestly, the contestants were incredibly lucky that realistic logic didn't apply, as only the ones that didn't jump would survive if it did. Heather and Leshawna's argument on the cliff, alongside Heather getting thrown off it, will probably never not be funny. Now that Katie and Sadie are on the same team, they're both equally annoying. Honestly, I feel like my hatred for Justin back when I first watched the series was a bit too harsh. I noticed that Noah is not seen jumping at all during the challenge, yet he abruptly appears with Trent in the safe zone, then on the beach. I'm guessing that it was just a writer/animator error. Another thing, I still don't understand how an escalator could be installed on the side of a cliff. Also, I'm pretty sure it never appeared in another episode. Courtney's voice actor change between this episode and the rest of the series makes sense, as her voice had originally been too soft for her aggressive personality. I'm assuming that the reason why Leshawna trusted Heather's apology was because she hadn't known her long enough to see her manipulative side. Lindsay most likely started trusting Heather out of pure naivety, thinking that whatever the "popular" girl says must be right. Speaking of which, Lindsay is much more bearable in this episode, and I thought the moment where she got upset about Tyler being targeted for elimination was cute. I felt that Ezekiel's elimination was solid, as it portrays him screwing himself over in a way that was fitting for his character. I felt that Noah should've gotten more screentime, though that's more of a nitpick. I liked how they made the bottom two tense and dramatic, to make it more interesting.
If I had to rate the episode out of 10, I'd rate it 8.5/10. It's just barely better than the previous episode because of the challenge, though the continuity errors hold it back.
Comment discussion-
If there's anything you agree or disagree with about my opinion, please put your opinion as a comment. Is Ostin a good ship name? Again, was Courtney derailed between the first two episodes?
