Is it a good idea to fill gaps in vinyl?

Hello I am a happy new owner of a cameo pro 4 yet a total newbie. I need to cut a large cactus shape that will fit a green vinyl of 80cm x 60cm. It has some spare areas between its arms. In order not to waste my precious green vinyl, I thought of filling the spare areas with smaller cactus.

Is it a good idea or will it make the cutting needlessly complicated and thus prone to fail? Thank you for your advise. Edit for clarification
