Second post: how do you practice pieces?

Since you had such helpful advice on my scales post, I thought I'd make another one.

How do you practice pieces?

Here's what I'm doing now: record myself, then practice parts I'm unhappy with using a metronome.

I do use a couple of variations on this including rhythms for fast passages and broken chords for double stops.

Any other advice? How do you practice pieces?
