[IIL] Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) in No Country For Old Men, [WEWIL?]
(Sorry if I got actor/character order wrong, I don't care about specific characters very often. In any case, I'm specifically looking for characters like Chigurh, rather than the actor that plays him.)
I watched No Country For Old Men last night and... was honestly a little disappointed. I'd heard great things about the film, so maybe my expectations were unreasonably high, but there was little about this film that particularly impressed me. I'd consider the film a little above average for the most part.
However, one thing that stood out to me was the character of Anton Chigurh. Most "psychopath" characters are either charming or have sympathetic qualities, sometimes both. Chigurh, on the other hand, was apathetic and methodical; he could not be reasoned with and only acted as his set-in-stone internal logic dictated. He was a force of nature who never changed or deviated from his path of action and would do whatever needed to be done with perfect efficiency. He spoke without emotion, repeated without elaboration if others tried to reason with him, and was overall very straightforward - and effective - in his methods and mannerisms.
I'd like to know of any other characters like this. Or stories that revolve around them. Not necessarily films, it can really be from anything, I like these sorts of characters overall. They don't need to be villains either, antiheroes would fit too.
