Can someone scam me or do anything bad with my name, phone number, and address?

I’m selling something so I know I need to give them my address, but do they really need my phone number? Could they do anything bad with that information?

Edit: now they want to pay me by emailing a check. I’ve never done that before— is that a safe way to transfer money?
