What is your medication/refill process like? I feel like I keep getting overcharged to get my prescription refilled (an appointment required each month)

Questions/Advice/Support

I have been dealing with this for years now, I've just been in a big slump because of it and I'm trying to get back on my feet.

My local clinic schedules a different doctor each time, and when I ask for a refill renewal they tell me "I am not your assigned doctor, so you will need to get a doctor to get a refill", so I schedule a new appointment, to get checked and then given a prescription again and, then it just repeats when I ask for a refill after my 30 count ends (every month). How in the world do I just stick with one doctor? I have to co-pay a lot of money for each appointment, and refill so it's just been exhausting to do it every month. I have called my local clinic for help, but they just assign me a different medical professional each time saying it will be my assigned doctor - I have thoroughly read through the website but I can't find anywhere that I can request for one doctor. Is this standard practice, am I supposed to do things differently?

From my knowledge of what I read online and asked others, I should only have to do a few appointments every now and then - and I should be able to just call my doctor or pharmacy to get a refill, right? I shouldn't have to do an appointment each month for a 30-day refill?
