Is exterior window trim piece replacement something we should hire a professional to do?

The PVC (I think) window trim - bottom pieces only - on our west-facing windows is horribly cracked and the metal underneath is showing. The rest of the trim is fine. Is there a way to replace just that piece or are we going to have to replace the whole trim around each window? Are either of these a reasonable DIY project or should we start calling professionals?
