Working at ESA as a young Graduate in Computer Science (Specialization Machine Learning)

Hello Everybody!

I recently graduated from University with a Master's Degree in Computer Science and a specialization in Machine/Deep Learning. I have been passionate about Space and Earth Observation Data for a long time. I want to follow my passion and started looking for job opportunities at ESA. I wanted to ask the following questions:

  • (For people working at ESA) What does your daily job routine look like? Do you like working at ESA? Is it what you imagined it to be like?
  • How likely is it to find a research job at ESA with my Background / Studies? (I noticed most AI research positions requiring a PHD)
  • What would you recommend to increase my chances?
  • Since I could not find any information on the ESA career site: Is it possible to to submit a spontaneous application if there is no current vacancy matching my profile?

Here some more information on me:
I am male, 26 years old from Luxemburg. I have a C1 in English, German, Luxemburgish, and French and an A2 in Italian. I specialized in the field of Computer Vision and graduated with a grade of 1.3 from the University of Freiburg.

Thank you very much in advance!
