Business aspect of videography question.

So I am booking my first paid music video (I’ve done like 10 free ones)

I’m charging a flat rate of 200 with a 80$ deposit to book a date

Should I ask for the deposit before we start delving into planning the video? He wants to have meetings to discuss location, wardrobe props etc.

Should I ask for deposit before we plan or once we have a set time and place?
