ISO laptop capable of light gaming and data analysis, sturdy + light enough for daily travel
- Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
$800, USA. (Can go a little above if you think you have a perfect suggestion?) - Are you open to refurbs/used?
Would prefer new - How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
I don't fully trust the sturdiness of 2-in-1s and am meh on touchscreens, but if they meet my other requirements then I'll deal with it. Build quality and performance are both pretty important, but battery life isn't since I'm usually in charging range. - How important is weight and thinness to you?
Prefer the lighter end. - Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
N/A - Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
A little bit of gaming - primarily older games. My most intesive games are probably Greedfall + Dragon Age Inquisition, but most games are more on the turn-based/otherwise less intense end of things. - If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
For my most intense games, I'm perfectly happy with 30 FPS low quality graphics. Playing them for the story anyway, and I've played on potatos all my life. - Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Since this laptop will be traveling with me between home and work daily, I would like it to be reasonably sturdy. I also would like at least 2 USB 2.0 ports and the option for USB-C charging. A HDMI port would be a big bonus, since I regularly have to present material at work, but if need be, I can always get an adapter. - Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I've noticed the asus vivobook fits my requirements pretty well, but I'm concerned about the oled screen and burn in, since I use my laptop essentially most waking hours. Is it not really a problem or are there other options like it without the oled screen?
