Crashes when joining multiplayer world

Everytime I try to join a multiplayer modded world (that's in 1.19.2) with some friends the game crashes after 1-2 seconds, I can fly around or look around for those few seconds. I can seem to load into singleplayer but multiplayer won't work.

Attempts to fix it which have failed include =
- reinstalling minecraft
- reinstalling java
- made sure we had the right version of java (java 17 and java 19 were tested)
- reinstalling mods individually (going mod by mod)
- made sure the mods in the client are exactly the same to the server mods
- changed forge versions
