A guy I hooked up with won’t text me first

I went out to a bar a few weeks ago and a guy I matched with on a dating app was there. I approached him and we got to talking the whole night. I went home with him. The next day we got breakfast and he dropped me off at home. Said he’d be in touch.

Then a few days go by and I text him. He responds insinuating he'd like to meet again sometime. We have light conversation — mind you, this man’s texting style is psychotic. I’d text him a response and he’d reply some cryptic meaningless message 12 hours later (just to keep me interested?). Very dry texter. saltine crackers.

Then a few days go by and I text him again saying “wanna hangout again?” and he says he does but he’s out of town. Then at around 11pm on a Tuesday night he texts me first. I call him out for booty calling me. I say I wanna get to know him more but not tonight. And he tells me he’s interested, “you’ve piqued my interest.” He’s engaged during this exchange and gives me more human responses than his previous messages.

Then, I go away for the holidays. We text a little bit (always me initiating). But he’s liking my Instagram stories and what not all the while. Now I’m back in town from traveling and I can’t stop thinking about him but he won’t text me! And I feel like an idiot texting him first again because he already knows I like him.

What should I do? Let it go and forget about him or text him again despite my pride? Plz halp :)
