Do you know any tricks on how to find the last enemies in extinction supply drop waves?

I do not fully understand how it works. I believe with one enemy left the wave ends after a about 30 seconds. I also believe that it can take up to 5 min with no enemies until the last ones spawn.

How does this work? Do you have any tips for last attackers?
