What 3D print software do y'all use?

Hi there! I'm a casual hobbyist and have done a few 3D prints from existing designs, but I want to get into designing some parts. Does anyone have suggestions for CAD software to use? I'm familiar with CAD principles from college but can't find cheap software anywhere - I don't want to pay $400-500 for modeling software. I'm also not a fan of the SaaS model because it doesn't seem like I get any substantive upgrades over time (willing to be challenged on that tho).
