Calcite Hood questions

Just bought a Calcite - lovely jacket. Feels nice, isn't that noisy and is the perfect size for layering as a shell over Nano air jacket. Too big to just wear with a tee but i won't be doing that regardless.

Thing is - the hood is massive, like absolutely ginormous - great to fit over a helmet but 99% of the time that isn't an issue. The back draw string on the hood is great, really dramatically reduces the volume but the neck hood strings don't really seem to do anything, and 'slip' back after being pulled - i don't think the buckle thing holds the string properly, basically. Other people with this jacket - have you found any issues with recent Calcites? I know they had an issue in 2019 but assumed that was all sorted.
