remotely controlled arduino (maybe)

Hello!

I'm trying to pursue an idea that i had and i was wondering how i would make this work.

The idea is having a button somewhere that when pressed sends a remote signal to another component, far away. My first idea was using an arduino bluethooth module but i don't think it can cover so much distance (aprox. 12km or 7.5mi).

How should i go about this? thank you!
