AI destroying Titles?

Basically what the title says, I've just noticed that since the last update Characters just destroy titles.

I've never seen a united Byzantium since the Update and my last playthrough I witnessed the destruction of the Lotharingian Kingdom among others.

Anyone has any insight as to what the reason is?
