Anyone using their shield with google assistant or home reliably?

I recently got a google home mini and the shield pops up in the app but it doesn’t take commands reliably. I would say I have a 20% success rate of turning the shield on/off with a voice command with the google home. It’ll work fine for 2 hours, then the next time it’ll say the shield can’t be found or isn’t responding. This happens regardless of if it is off/on or whichever app I have it open to.

With Alexa the success rate is closer to 100%.

My questions is, has anyone got it working reliably with their google nest mini, or home or even the google assistant app? I’ve tried nvidia’s suggestions of clearing the data in the “google” app on the shield doing a new setup of the assistant.

I’m running a shield pro 2019 with 9.1.1, it is hardwired to my router.

As mentioned, Alexa works fine, so I don’t think it’s a networking issue.
