[no spoilers]Picked up DA:O on Steam but encountering a lot of bugs. Is the GOG version more stable?

I've had a few crashes. There are a number of graphical bugs such as fire and blood appearing as distorted boxes.

Just wondering if the GoG version is better. I know they often patch their releases. Or are there any fan patches I should be aware of?
